Summer Camp While Summer Camp at BEC emphasizes the importance of teaching students to maximize the potential of each horse the student rides, whether it's a school horse or a show horse, the program also introduces the student to many concepts if they were to choose a life as a professional equestrian. Breeding, imprinting, land management, first aid and nutrition allow a student to develop an "eye" that enhances their overall ability to communicate with horses. Each student takes 2 lessons daily but the program also includes swimming, hiking and even kayaking as some of our non-horse related activities. Our goal is to teach the student that an athletic lifestyle in general leads to a more balanced, capable rider. Another component of the program teaches sustainable living. Students choose riding because of their love for animals and the outdoors. Chickens, sheep and the occasional cow allow the student to experience what the food chain looks like if there were no supermarkets. Large vegetable gardens and flower gardens teach students that things taste and look better in your backyard, and yes, it's true that horse poop makes everything grow bigger! Day Camp is a Monday through Friday experience from 9am-5pm and the cost is $500 per student per week. Overnight Camp runs Monday through Saturday and the cost is $1200 per student per week. 2009 Dates are July 13, 2009 through July 17, 2009.
